Panning the new Moby album
Commercialize /k&-'m&r-sh&-"lIz/ - 3. to debase in quality for more profit (Webster's)Wow, this could be Moby's worst album ever. It will be rotting on music store shelves and in mainstream consumers' ears starting March 22, 2005. The album avoids samples, allowing the thinness and blandness of his voice come to the fore. Also, the lyrics make me cringe. Here's a lyrical excerpt from the song "Slipping Away":
Open to everything happy and sad
Seeing the good when it's all going bad
Seeing the sun when I can't really see
Hoping the sun will at least look at me
Moby, you're gonna make me puke. IMHO, everything he's done since Animal Rights has been irrelevant, except for his ability to license his music to every American brand name.
