Google Base - A Craigslist Killer? Not quite.

Google Base

Ok, it's not immediately clear from Google Base how it can serve as an organized database. I think part of Craiglist's allure is that it is barebones but organized, and fairly idiot-proof (even though there are a lot of idiots on Craigslist). Basically, Google is relying on its search power and on the ability of posters to usefully tag their own information so that relevant results can be provided for curious users. There is a 10MB limit, but you can't just post files on there, only pics and text it appears. I was testing to see if it could be an MP3/file host, hehe. Well, I posted my site on Google Base just for the hell of it.
