- Empire's 50 Greatest Independent Films
This list should be more appropriately titled 50 Indepedent Films that 1) gained notoriety or 2) became popular after later receiving major studio backing. Not a terrible list, but if we are talking greatest in the true sense of the word, there are some MAJOR omissions (John Cassavetes, the godfather of independent cinema, Maya Deren, and Mike Leigh come immediately to mind). - Sony is in civil and criminal trouble for their rootkit shenanigans.
