Duffy - Mercy (MP3) | mirrorAimee Anne Duffy is a Welsh singer who has stirred a lot of buzz in the UK after her performance on Later with Jools Holland. Her soulful voice inevitably draws unfair comparisons to Dusty Springfield. Her Bridget Bardot style looks also won't hurt her on the road to stardom. She's already selling out most shows in the UK and will likely be a Mercury Prize front-runner and this year's Amy Winehouse type UK export (minus the crack pipe).
Speaking of Jools Holland, his 200th show is coming up on Feb 1. It features a blockbuster lineup that's worth recording: Radiohead, Dionne Warwick, Mary J. Blige, Cat Power, Robyn Hitchcock, and Feist. Wow. Since I don't get BBC2 on RCN, I'm gonna hafta find a torrent of this after the fact.
